Benefits of hemp oil for skin

Hemp oil, which is also referred to as hemp seed oil, is made from hemp seeds. Hemp is an extract of the cannabis plant, however it is the compound that is safe and unable to make you experience psychoactive side effects.

The compound that makes you feel “high”, is known as THC. THC is illegal in doses over 0.3%, which is why all legal skin care products containing CBD will have little to no THC in, so that it remains legal and doesn’t give customers any unwanted side effects. Even a small amount of THC is not enough to make you feel high, therefore it’s completely safe.

The reason why hemp oil is so popular in the skin care industry is because it’s packed with a range of benefits for our skin. These benefits are what a lot of other skin care products claim they offer but in actual fact they fail to do so. In this article, we are going to look at all the properties of hemp oil and why it is so beneficial for our bodies.

Hemp oil is used in the same way as CBD and the product ranges are very similar. For example we have topical CBD back pain creams and oils, just like we do with hemp. We have moisturisers, foods, and more.

Hemp Oil Benefits

  • Moisturises the skin – Hemp oil hydrates the skin, just like the CBD skin hydrating gel (50ml, 500g CBD), and balances out the oils on the surface. Our skin naturally produces oil, however in some cases, our pores can get clogged up with this oil, or we can overproduce/ underproduce natural skin oil. Hemp oil ensures the rate in which our skin produces oil is balanced. Excess oil on the skin can cause skin conditions such as acne.
  • Reduces inflammation – Hemp oil actually has anti-inflammatory properties, meaning it will target soreness, swelling and redness on the skin. The reason for this is because in the hemp oil, there is an omega-6 fatty acid known as gamma-linolenic acid. This fatty acid also helps new skin growth.
  • Targets Skin Conditions – As we mentioned before, hemp oil has anti-inflammatory properties. Well, as well as this, it also has anti-bacterial and antifungal properties, meaning it is able to target skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, etc. By removing bacteria and inflammation and also encouraging new cell production, it can really benefit people with these skin conditions. It also helps heal dry or damaged skin.

How To Apply Hemp Oil

There have been known to be a few ways in which hemp oil can be applied, however we have chosen to list the most common technique that we recommend to you as beginners.

  1. Wash the treatment area before applying the oil. This is to allow some moisture to be in your skin prior to applying the oil. It also helps remove any dirt.
  2. Apply the oil to the skin, starting with really small doses to allow your body to get used to the oil.
  3. Massage the oil into the skin, allowing the substance to really get into your pores.
  4. Allow the oil to set and then clean your skin with warm water.

Oral Hemp Oil

Some people prefer to take hemp oil orally. They will typically have 1 or 2 teaspoons of hemp oil per day. The benefits are still the same from doing this. It also means you can put it in foods or drinks if you prefer, for example CBD honey sticks. There are a number of different hemp oil products on the market for these purposes.
